WALKS INTO HISTORY
The Walks into History Group combine their joy of walking and the countryside, together with local history. Members research the history of a place or area and then put together a walk, which they lead, giving an historical overview. We have covered a lot of ground since 2014 and have looked at some really interesting places - it is simply amazing what is on our own doorstep. Walks can be anything from 2-3 miles up to 5 or 6.
We publish a newsletter at the beginning of each month that contains a diary of events (two to three every month), a report on recent walks (with that all important photo!!), plus details of our website, where all the walking notes can be accessed in case you would like to do the walk again with friends or family. Walking dates vary from month to month, as do the days of the week, which insures that most members are able to join us at some stage.
We have introduced an afternoon ‘tea & chat’ social event once every six months, so that the group can get to know each other a little better and with over 150 members we are the largest of The Wokingham U3a groups.
