This page is designed for people who are not yet members of Wokingham u3a, but would like to learn more about our organisation and potentially join us.   (Already a Wokingham u3a member? Please go to our Member Information Hub. You will need to log in to view it.)

We offer an opportunity for those no longer in full time work to come together and make the most of life, by exploring new ideas, skills and interests with like-minded people. Connect with others through the things you love – step away from work and into the world of u3a!

Members are encouraged to participate in our Interest Groups. We have around 190 of these, covering a range of interests including music, sports, technology, history, arts, science, languages and much more, including groups specifically for members on their own (“MOTO”). Groups meet in members’ homes or larger venues in and around Wokingham. There’s surely something to suit most people. If not, we can help you get started with setting up a new group.

In addition to our groups, we offer a programme of activities, talks, social events and trips that are open to all members of Wokingham u3a.

Wokingham u3a (Wu3a) is run by members, for members. Group conveners are not teachers, just passionate members who enjoy taking part in activities and learning together. Others may choose to help with the general running of the organisation. We’re all volunteers - and that includes our committee and group leaders!

A world of new experiences awaits you at Wokingham u3a, so what’s stopping you?

Further Information

Wokingham u3a (Wu3a), founded in 1990, became a registered charity in 1991 and it has grown very rapidly since then.
All administrative and group activities in Wokingham u3a are carried out on a completely voluntary and unpaid basis. No academic qualifications are required or given, and no-one is a “teacher” - the u3a movement was formed to encourage its members to engage in knowledge-sharing as equals.
Committee members are elected annually by local members at the AGM.
The u3a has taken a policy decision that only fully paid up members can participate in any u3a activity, including Interest Groups. The only exception to this is that a non-member can attend one Wokingham u3a monthly meeting, before being required to apply for Membership.
