The Thursday Walking Group are all Young at Heart walkers, who are keen to get out and about and explore the local area. Currently, the Group has a membership of over 50, plus a Waiting List. Numbers on any given walk can be in the region of between 20 and 30 people
We meet on the first Thursday of the month, and meet up at 10:15am in order to start the walk at 10:30am. The walk generally starts from a pub selected for three very good reasons!
- The pub is in close proximity to the walk
- It tends to have a good sized car park
- Personal knowledge that the pub is welcoming and big enough to accommodate thirsty/hungry U3A walkers.
We try to encourage members from the Walking Group to each lead a walk, but this is not essential. Walks are designed to be not too strenuous, to be between 3 and 5 miles long and aim to be picturesque and/or educational (plenty of flora and fauna) and to enable members to socialise both during the walk and at the subsequent lunch, which is optional. Full details of each walk will be sent out to the group shortly after the previous walk.
